![]() "For many years, I have used a wireless system. I have tried Samson. I have been endorsed by Nady and Shure; all great companies with really good products and good people that make and promote. But I have never found the right combination that keep the sound as true to using a cable as possible + reliability (not cutting out every so often) + not having any "buzzing" or grounding issues. Usually I have had an issue with one or the other but never found a system that worked every night. Then one lovely day, the cool guys from AKG in Austria sent us some SR 4000 wireless units to try. Before I even opened one up, I checked out the internet to see how much these cost. The previous Shure units I'd used cost many, many thousands of dollars to get Dave Padden (Jeff's 2nd guitarist and lead singer) and myself equipped with wireless units for each of our guitars. Anyway, the AKG stuff was "cheap" in price, when compared to the other "pro" systems I have used. So I fully expected they would buzz or hum or cut out or sound like crap. Unbelievably, the things sounded great. It did not thin out my guitar tone. It did not create silly feedback. It was simple. It did not cut out when I went to the back of a festival ground in Zaragoza, Spain… It held 20,000 people. We used them successfully for a show and then for a whole tour. Only ONCE did I have a problem with them and this was solved by, like other live gear, not stacking them together in the same rack unit (then they buzzed!). So the moral of the storyfor guitar players: GET AKG. SAVE MONEY. RETAIN TONE. HAVE A RELIABLE WIRELESS UNIT YOU CAN TRUST. KICK ASS! Jeff Waters
